Starnut is a top-down space survival roguelike inspired by Brotato. Pilot a customizable ship through 20 escalating waves of scouts, gunners, bombers, swarms, and carriers — then face a 3-phase boss at the end of the run. Weapons auto-fire; you dodge, position, and build.

Features

  • 6 captains — Cadet, Drone Commander, Asteroid Miner, Interceptor, Station Commander, Void Raider. Each with unique strengths and brutal trade-offs.
  • 25+ weapons across 8 categories — projectile, homing, AoE, chain, piercing, scaling, utility, and engineering structures.
  • Weapon merging — combine two of the same tier to forge a stronger one. Four tiers: Common → Uncommon → Rare → Legendary.
  • Deployable structures — Sentry Turrets, Proximity Mines, Repair Nodes, Tesla Pylons, Gravity Wells, and more.
  • Shields & drones — Reflector, Phase Shield, Regen Mesh; Attack, Point Defense, EMP, Repair drones.
  • Shop & level-ups — rarity-weighted stat picks, rerolls, locks, and a luck stat that tilts the odds.
  • Deep stat system — fire rate, crit, range, armor, regen, harvesting, engineering, luck, XP gain.

Controls

  • WASD or Arrow Keys — move
  • Weapons auto-fire at the nearest enemy — no manual aiming
  • Shift + P — pause
  • Esc — settings

Tips

  • Merge aggressively — a single Legendary weapon often beats three Commons.
  • Elite enemies appear at Wave 16 (earlier for Void Raider). Gear up before then.
  • Wave 19 is a gauntlet. Don't burn all your scrap on Wave 18.
